Mr. Ahmet Çalik, the president of Calik Group considered the credit given to the company as a credibility proof and he said that this amount will be used for the modernization and remaking of Albtelecom.
After the privatization of the biggest fix operator Albtelecom company, and the becoming of it part of Çalik Holding, a 100 million euro credit agreemnt was signed with European Bank for Recunstruction and Development (BERZH) and the Black Sea Bank for Trade and Development. The said credit will serve for the modernization of the company and investements on fix telephone infrastructure.
75 milionë out of total amount will be financed by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BERZH), whereas the rest 25 million euro will be financed by Black Sea Bank for Trade and Development (BTDB). Basing on this credit, Albtelecom will invest on development, expanding and improve of existing network , as well as capacity and quality increase of telecommunication services for it`s subsribers.
The representatives of Albanian government and isttitutions, and Ahmet Calik, the President of Calik Group participated in the ceremony. The president of Calik company said that this is an important agreement both for Albtelecom and albanian economy. He aslo said that this credit is a profit of a very credibility and trust on Calik Group by international organizationa.
The Calik President estimated this credit agreement as a coopeartion agreemnt as well. “We reached this 100 million euro agreement which will affect the Albanian economical development and modernizing and remaking Albtelecom”, he said. Mr. Çalik further said, “regardless of increasing international economy obscurity, the credit financed by two big international financial institutions BERZH and Black Sea Bank, make clear the reputation and the very trust of international arena on Calik Holding”. This step, according to him, will influence the development of albanian telecommunication section and the economical dynamics of the country. “This investement will be a messenger to other investements and reforms. I wish and hope that the friend and brother country Albania has importantly stepped forward toward European Union and free market economy. We hope that this investement will influence economical stability and dynamics in other sections in Albania. We also see it as the start of a new era for the country and that`s why we give special priority”, said the President of Çalik Group, Ahmet Çalik.
Highlighting the importance that Çalik Holding gives to the historical and cultural ties with Albania, Ahmet Çalik added that “we are proud to be in Albania and give our contribution as part of albanian economy in it`s reviving and development process.”.
Çalik Group became the owner of 76 per cent of Albtelecom after the privatization which started with the bid of year 2005. Calik is the biggest investor in Albania with more than 120 million euro. In the framework of increasin regional strategy, Calik Group became the owner not long ago of the second biggest bank in Albania, the National Commercial Bank. The CETEL telecommunication company of Calik Group owns almost 80 % share of Albtelecom fix telephone operator and the newest mobile operator Eagle Mobile. Whereas 20 % share are owned by Turkish Telecom. CETE works in Agreement with Turkish Telecom for Common Operations on Albtelecom operational services. Actually, Albtelecom covers 10 % of Albanian population meaning 3.2 million inhabitants. CETEL is working on the possibility of having 60% of population under Albtelecom connection achieving as such the Western European standarts.
