Despite the pandemic, ALBtelecom employees continue the tradition of blood donation for children that suffer from thalassemia
The pandemic conditions and the challenge it brings, have not prevented ALBtelecom’s employees from continuing the tradition of blood donation, in support of children with thalassemia. For 7 years now, ALBtelecom has been organizing an awareness campaign for blood donation for children that suffer from thalassemia.
In cooperation with the National Center of Blood Transfusion, ALBtelecom organized a voluntary blood donation event, respecting all health conditions for donor employees, under the care of specialist doctors.
The Head of Corporate Affairs at ALBtelecom, Mrs. Jonilda Filipi said: "Blood donation for those in need is a vital daily need and is even more valuable, as the number of donations has significantly declined due to the pandemic."
Social responsibility is one of the main dimensions of the company and this campaign stands at its core, aiming to create a wider impact and cooperation with other partners who want to join this cause.
According to official sources of the Ministry of Health, , around 10.7 out of 1000 people donate blood in Albania, whereas the need is estimated at 20 out of 1000. It means that we give 2 times less than the necessary level of blood donation. Referring to this statistic, the purpose of ALBtelecom is to promote this cause to reach the necessary amount of blood donation each year.
