To configure the TP-LINK RE450 as the current Wi-Fi repeater delivered by the xDSL / GPON service modem via WPS functionality, proceed as follows:

It is placed in the TP-LINK socket. The status of the LED lights should be as follows for the first time.

  • Power: On, static
  • 2.4Ghz / 5G: Off
  • Signal: Off

Press the WPS or WPS / WLAN button on the service modem and check that the WPS LED light on the modem is in pulsing status (pairing mode).

Press the Signal button on the TP-LINK repeater. The status of the Signal light on the repeater switches from pulsating to Static, blue, when the connection is made, as well as associated with the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz LED light, depending on the connection it has made to the modem. Connection time is up to two minutes.

The Wi-Fi repeater appears with the same name as the modem Wi-Fi associated with _EXT and has the same password. For dual band modems, such as the GPON ZXHN F670L modem proceed 2 times with the above steps to perform repetition for both bands (2.4Ghz dhe 5Ghz).

The modem is configured with the name Wi-Fi ALBtelecom - 2.4G for the 2.4Ghz band and ALBtelecom - 5G for the 5Ghz band. Wi-Fi TP-LINK repeater should be displayed under the names ALBtelecom - 2.4G_EXT and ALBtelecom - 5G_EXT after successfully connecting via WPS.

Once the connection is made via WPS with the respective modem, TP-LINK saves the connection even after it is turned off or moved. Once the Wi-Fi settings like SSID, and password are changed, the connection must be reconnected (Steps 1,2 and 3).

For modems that have Wi-Fi service only in the 2.4Ghz band (HUAWEI DG8045), the connection via WPS and TP-LINK will be realized only once (Step 3 only once).

The moment the Wi-Fi name or Wi-Fi password is changed for one of the bands on the xDSL / GPON modem, the connection must be made again via the WPS method

For GPON Genexis modems, the connection cannot be made via WPS.

For the TP-Link repeater, the explanation on the LED lights is as follows:

For maximum coverage and quality of service with Wi-Fi service, the device should be positioned at a medium distance between the area covered by the modem and the area required to be covered by Wi-Fi from the repeater. Signal light status should be Blu Static, indicating the Wi-Fi connection to the modem within the settings.
